Ever wonder what an American Christmas is like? When do Americans open gifts and is their Santa Claus any different than the European Santa Claus? Christmas is a wonderful time of year all over the world, and as you may have already guessed it’s a little different for everyone in just about every country. So really , what does Christmas in the USA look like?
Well for starters, Santa Claus definitely comes from the North Pole. He’s not from a particular country, just the North Pole. He also delivers his gifts at night on Christmas Eve so they are waiting under the tree early Christmas morning. What does Santa like to eat? Well cookies of course! And it definitely doesn’t hurt to leave him a glass of milk to help wash down all those yummy treats.
Santa Claus also pays attention to the fire place. After coming down the chimney he fills the stockings or extremely large socks that hang by the fireplace. If you’ve been good you can expect some fruit, chocolate, or maybe a small gift, and if you’ve been naughty be prepared to find a lump of coal (although Santa is really nice and this rarely if ever happens).
For many Americans Christmas is also not exactly a cold time of year. A lot of people have actually never seen snow, with the exception of the movies. If you happen to live in California or Hawaii and it’s particularly warm year , you just might be able to spend Christmas on the beach. However, most people in the other 48 states do see snow and enjoy their Christmas morning all bundled up inside.
Christmas is definitely a magical time of year. Whether you are buried in snow in Scandinavia, riding your bike in Holland, shoveling snow in Germany, or on the beach in sunny California, Christmas is just a wonderful time of year.
