English language programme for children and parents
in the capital of the South-West
Exeter is the capital of beautiful Devon and offers the ideal location for an exciting and unforgettable stay. It is close comparison to the rugged beauty of Dartmoor National Park and the sandy beaches of South Devon. The town itself offers plenty of shops, cafés, bars, and fast-food restaurants in and around the historic town centre, which is dominated by Exeter‘s magnificent 13th century cathedral.
Your child or your children will participate in our junior summer course with lessons in the morning and activities in the afternoon. You attend an English language course for adults in the morning and you can either spend the rest of the day as a family or you can take the opportunity to have some time without your children. As the programme is very flexible and can be designed to your wishes, you can make up your mind on a daily basis.
Our language school in Exeter
All lessons take place on the Streatham Campus of Exeter University, just a 15-minute walk from the town centre. The beautiful campus grounds contain 350 acres of woodland, lakes and parks.
Our language courses are attended by students and their parents from all over the world and have been designed specifically for language learners who are visiting a foreign country for a short period. Maximum class size for children and parents is 15.
All our teachers are native speakers and qualified in teaching English as a foreign language. Teaching material is provided. You’ll take a placement test upon arrival, which determines your course level. The following levels are catered for (children and parents): advanced beginners (A1), lower intermediate (A2), intermediate (B1), upper intermediate (B2), advanced (C1).
At the end of the course, you’ll receive a certificate indicating your language level according to the Common European Framework of Reference Levels.
English Language courses for children 10-17 years
General English Course: 15 lessons (x 45 mins) per week
Lessons normally take place from Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 11:45. Each of the three morning lessons focuses on a specific area of language learning: grammar and language work, reading and listening, or communicative activities and speaking practice. Our aim is to provide you with the vocabulary and grammar required for effective communication and particular attention is paid to improving speaking and listening skills.
The following levels are catered for: intermediate (A2, B1, B2), advanced (C1).
Intensive English Course: 20 lessons (x 45 mins) per week
The Intensive Course consists of the General English Course plus an additional lesson per day (11.45 -12.30) in which key areas of language learning are practised in more depth.

English Language courses for parents
General English Course I with 15 lessons (x 45 mins) per week

Besides the above mentioned 15 lessons, you will get an additional lesson per day (11.45 -12.30) in which key areas of language learning are practised in more depth.

Business English Course with 25 lessons (x 45 mins) per week
You will follow the General English course for three lessons and you’ll get two additional lessons per day in a smaller group (max. of 5 students). In these lessons subjects regarding business English, such as presentations, meetings, negotiations, conferences, letters, etc will be covered.
The following levels are catered for: intermediate (B1, B2), advanced (C1).
Private 1:1 Lessons or 1:2 lessons: 10 lessons (x 45 mins) per week
The private lessons allow you more time with your teacher to focus on areas of English in your specialised area. You may simply want to study more grammar in more detail with just your teacher’s attention. We can organise a private course around your needs.

Accommodation and Meal Plan
Guesthouse:
Bed & Breakfast accommodation in an English guesthouse in double, twin or family room with en-suite toilet and shower facilities. Our guesthouses are located only 1-2 miles from school. Your children are accommodated also in the guesthouse and take the breakfast there. Lunch and dinner will be provided on the campus.
Apartment:
Self catering accommodation in one of our comfortables apartments with one or two bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. All our apartments are located just 1-2 miles away from school. For the children lunch and dinner will be provided on the campus.
Residence Streatham campus: (10-17 years)
Your children are accommodated with other students in standard single or twin rooms or in en-suite single rooms on campus on a full-board basis while you stay in the guesthouse or apartment.
Activity Programme
Children join the activities organized by our international team with sport activities (soccer, volleyball, etc), workshops (Dancing, Health & Beauty, etc), trips, etc. Parents normally organize their days on their own. We organize a welcome reception with a campus tour and a pub evening with a designated member of staff giving you the chance to get to know the other parents and to receive valuable tips on what to do during your stay.
English language programme Exeter - how to get there?
Transfers are not included in the price, but arrival and departure transfers can be provided as an additional service from/to London, Southampton and Bournemouth airports as well as from St. Pancras train station. On the day of arrival our Meet & Greet Service will be waiting for you at the exit area of customs and will take you directly to your course centre. On the day of departure, you will leave Exeter as required in order to make sure you arrive at the airport in time to check in. Of course, Exeter has got its own train and coach station if you want to travel independently.
