  • Peaceful seaside resort on the Devon coast
  • Very cosy and comfortable guesthouses on offer
  • Supervision of children from 5 years

For both, parents and children, Teignmouth is an ideal place for English programmes: It's a peaceful and secure seaside resort situated on the Devon coast, just a short bus ride from Torquay and the English Riviera. The charming harbour, winding streets and an award winning sandy beach complement an interesting variety of shops, cafés and restaurants to make Teignmouth both popular and attractive to visitors from all over the UK and abroad.

Your child/children aged between 10-15 will participate in our junior summer course with lessons in the morning and supervised activities in the afternoons and evenings. You attend an English language course for adults in the morning and you can either spend the rest of the day as a family or you can take the opportunity to have some time without your children. As the programme is very flexible and can be designed to your wishes, you can make up your mind on a daily basis. Our Playschool offers supervised activities for children between 5-9 years of age while you take part in English language classes. Our teachers and staff are happy to provide you with some useful information to plan activities with your family.

Additional information

Accommodation can also be provided for additional family members, but at least one child or one parent have to attend an English language course. We cannot guarantee supervision for children who don't attend an English course.

Our language school is part of Europa School of English, which is accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English in the UK and is a member of English UK. All lessons take place in the spacious classrooms of Trinity School, a typical English boarding school exclousivley used by us. Trinity School is situated on a lush hilltop in a picturesque area overlooking the sea and the lovely streets of Teignmouth. Just a 15-minute-walk from the centre and the sea, Trinity's closed campus guarantees a comfortable and secure environment for our young learners.

Residence Trinity School

Guesthouse

You will live in a Bed & Breakfast accommodation in a typical, cosy, family-run English guesthouse. You can choose between a single, double/twin, three or four bedded room with en-suite toilet and shower facilities. Our guesthouses are only 1-1,5 miles from the language school away.
Additionally, children aged 10-15 receive lunch and dinner in the Trinity School if booked a language course.
Adults and children aged 5 to 9 years have the possibility to have lunch on campus. In this case, you will have to book and pay directly at the Trinity School.

Residence

Your children (10-15 years) are accommodated in multi-bedded rooms (2-4 students) with shared toilet and shower facilities in the Trinity School on a full-board basis while you as parents and younger children stay in one of our guesthouses.

Freizeitprogramm

You can choose what you prefer to do during your spare time. During our Welcome Meeting in the school we will give you tips and ideas on what to do and see in and around Teignmouth.

For your children (10-15 years) our well-trained English-speaking supervisors organise an extensive activity programme every day. Your children will have the opportunity to get to know other children of similar age from many different countries and use the English language outside their English classes.

Your child's/children's safety and welfare are very important to us: Our staff ratio on campus for the age group 10-12 years is 1:10 and 13-15 years is 1:15, however supervision groups during activities on or off campus will have different ratios of up to 15 students for 10-12 year old and up to 25 students for 13-15 year old depending on the situation.

If your child/children take/s part in our activity programme the following rules apply according to our supervision standards:

10 to 12 year olds:
Our youngest students are supervised more thoroughly by specially trained staff. The staff ratio for this age group is 1:10. The activity programme is mandatory for them and their supervisors will ensure that they take part in the offered activities. They are not allowed to leave the campus without supervision, but we will offer town walks most days. It is not possible for you to give your child/children permission to leave the campus without supervision.
They will be in separate TTT (Time to Talk) groups of up to 15 children per group. In the lunchtime TTT they tell their supervisor what they want to do in the afternoon and the supervisor will put them in the respective sign-up list which will be checked when the programme starts. The same happens at the dinner-time TTT for the evening event.

13 to 15 year olds:
You participate in a compulsory programme with a wide range of activities. You are not allowed to leave the campus without staff members- even if your parents give you the permission to do so. Our staff will accompany you into town. You will then have the opportunity to explore the city centre with your friends in pairs or bigger groups for a period of up to two hours. From the meeting point in the city centre, your staff members will take you back to the campus. During excursions you will also have the chance to explore and have some free time in pairs or groups with a staff member waiting for you at the meeting point.

Applicable for both age groups:
You will be part of a TTT (Time to Talk) group of up to 25 students. In the lunchtime TTT you tell your supervisor what you want to do in the afternoon and the supervisor will put you in the respective sign-up list which will be checked when the programme starts. The same happens at the dinner time TTT for the evening event.
Homestay students only have one TTT around lunchtime where they need to inform their supervisor about their plans for the day and for the evening. In the evenings the students can either take part in the activity programme or stay in their homestay, as long as the homestay host is at home. Our staff will check with the homestay that it is OK.

Please inform us and sign your child/children out whenever you pick them up during/after activities/evening events.

Please note that parents cannot participate in the children's activity programme.

Bus passes cost approx. £5 for a dayrider or £16 for a flexirider (12 single trips).
