London Our English language school is located
in the centre of London.

Our renowned partner school is located right in the centre of London, near Oxford Street and Baker Street. The school can be easily reached using public transport; tube stations as well as bus stops are all nearby. The school building has three storeys and offers several bright classrooms, a cafeteria with TV as well as a brand new “University Style” studying centre with library and computers with free internet access.
Qualified English teachers instruct students from all over the world (up to 300 students) in a friendly and relaxed environment. The maximum class size is 14 (on average 10). All teachers are native speakers and qualified in teaching English as a foreign language. You will have to purchase the school’s textbook on arrival for about £18. You’ll take a placement test upon arrival, which determines your course level.
The school offers free time activities on a regular basis, e.g. guided tours, sightseeing, trips, sports, pub-crawls… Some activities are already included in the price and others can be booked on arrival at the centre for an additional fee.

English Language courses

London

General English Course: 20 lessons x 50 minutes per week
The course takes place in the morning from 9.15 a.m. to 1.30 p.m., Monday to Friday. The course consists of 15 lessons, where you will mainly work with the textbook, covering communication, reading and listening comprehension and grammar. The teachers will support you improving your grammar and vocabulary by many practical exercises. The 5 remaining lessons can be designed more freely.
The following language levels are catered for: elementary (A1), lower intermediate (A2), intermediate (B1), upper intermediate (B2), advanced (C1).

Intensive English Course: 30 lessons x 50 minutes per week
This course combines the General English course (see above) with an add-on of ten lessons a week (from 2.15 p.m. to 4.35 p.m., from Monday to Thursday). During those ten lessons you'll get deeper into the language and culture, concentrating on grammar, listening and wordpower.
The following language levels are catered for: elementary (A1), lower intermediate (A2), intermediate (B1), upper intermediate (B2), advanced (C1).

Cambridge Examination preparation: 20 lessons x 50 minutes per week
This course prepares you for the Cambridge Examinations. Our partner school offers two exams: the Cambridge First Certificate of English (FCE) for the upper intermediate level (B2) and the Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) for the advanced level (C1, C2). The courses take place three times a year and last 10 or 12 weeks, depending on the date. You will take the exam after the course.
After you have booked the course (at least 4 weeks prior to starting date!), you will receive a test, on which your acceptance depends. On the first school day you will have an oral exam.
Please note: The exam fee (about 100 £) is not included in the price and has to be paid to the school during the first week.

Business English: 25 lessons x 50 minutes per week You will build appropriate vocabulary related to business and management whilst developing confidence and fluency in the English language. Practicing for interviews, phone calls and meetings is part of this course as well. This course combines the General English course (see above) with an add-on of five hours a week of Business English (two afternoons per week 2.15 p.m. - 4.35 p.m.).
The following language level is catered for: intermediate (B1)

Accommodation

Home stay: You’ll stay in single rooms with one of our friendly home stay hosts, most of whom have been welcoming students for many years. Most of our hosts live a bus-ride (average 45 minutes) away from school and you should buy a bus pass for about 50 £ per month.
You normally get breakfast in your host-family but half-board accommodation (with breakfast and dinner) is also available.

Residence: You may stay in a single room in a self-catering apartment in town. The apartments as well as its toilet and shower facilities and its kitchen are normally shared between fellow students from different countries. Some apartments are close to the school while others are a short walk or a bus-ride (max. 30 minutes) away.

How to get there?

Take the train or coach to London or fly into one of London’s airports. Airport transfers can be provided as an additional service, but you have to arrive between 8.00 a.m. and 10 p.m.

Course start dates

You can start your course every Monday throughout the year except for Public Holidays. If your course starts on a public holiday you will start on the Tuesday. Accommodation is available from the Saturday before your course starts to the Saturday after its completion.

There are no classes on the following public holidays:

Christmas Closure: 24st December 2010 to the 2rd January 2011 inclusive.
Public holidays 2010: 2nd April, 5th April, 3rd May, 31st May, 30th August

There are no refunds for classes not taught on public holidays.
Minimum stay is two weeks.
