French summer course in Antibes on the French Riviera

With its Mediterranean climate - lots of sunny days and high temperatures all through the summer - this is the perfect spot for your French summer course! The beaches are within easy reach of our residences, centrally located in either Antibes or in Juan-les-Pins. Antibes itself has an attractive historic city centre with a maze of small streets. It is also famous for having one of the biggest marinas in Europe, where you can see some of the world’s most expensive luxury yachts. Antibes is one of the oldest cities in the Côte d’Azur, founded by the Greeks in 340 BC. It’s old name “Antipolis” means “city across from Nice”. Later the city belonged to the Roman Empire and there are still some Roman artefacts such as aqueducts and amphora to be seen in Antibes.

The language school in Antibes

Our language courses are attended by students from all over the world and have been designed specifically for young people, who are visiting a foreign country for a short period. Maximum class size is 15 in the intensive course and 10 in the DELF exam preparation course. All teachers are native speakers and qualified in teaching French as a foreign language. Teaching material is provided.
You’ll take a placement test upon arrival, which determines your course level. The following levels are catered for: beginners (A1), lower intermediate (A2), intermediate (B1), upper intermediate (B2), advanced (C1). At the end of the course, you’ll receive a certificate indicating your language level according to the Common European Framework of Reference Levels.
Please note that the lessons don't take place on this bank holidays and aren't catched up later: 14.07.2011, 15.08.2011.

French Language courses

Intensive French Course: 20 lessons (x 45 mins) per week
Lessons normally take place from Monday to Friday between 08:45 and 12:00. The four morning lessons focus on the main areas of language learning: grammar and language work, reading and listening, communicative activities and speaking practice. Our aim is to provide you with the vocabulary and grammar required for effective communication and particular attention is paid to improving speaking and listening skills.

DELF exam preparation course: 20 lessons (x 45 mins) per week
The DELF (Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française) examinations are recognised worldwide as proof of your French language ability.
Our DELF exam preparation courses is designed to prepare you for the DELF exam (Diplôme d'Etudes en langue Française), which you can take at home (just ask your French teacher). The course lasts two weeks. Dates: 03.07.-16.07. / 17.07.-30.07. / 31.07.-13.08. / 14.08.-27.08.11

Accommodation and Meal Plan

Residence: Live and socialise with your fellow students from many different countries in one of our residences!
For our summer courses accommodation will be provided at the Lycée Horticole, Lycée Leonardo da Vinci, Castel Arabel or Couleur Soleil.
We will make every effort to honour your requests for specific accommodation but can offer no guarantee.

Castel Arabel Medium: You stay in en-suite twin-bedrooms. The residence is located in the centre of Juan-les-Pins, about 600 metres from the beach. Telephones and a small launderette can be found in the residence. Meals and lessons take place in a school nearby.
Couleur Soleil: You stay in multi-bedded en-suite rooms (3-4 beds). The residence is located in the centre of Juan-les-Pins, about 70 metres from the beach. Telephones can be found in the residence and a small launderette ist just a 5-minutes-walk away. Meals and lessons take place in a school nearby.
Lycée Horticole: You stay in multi-bedded rooms (2-4 beds) with shared toilet and shower facilities on every floor. The residence features gardens, sports facilities (soccer, volleyball), a swimming pool, a cafeteria, TV-rooms and an amphitheatre. Telephones and a launderette are available in the Lycée. There is no safe, but all cupboards can be locked. Meals and lessons also take place in the Lycée. The beach can be reached in about 10 minutes by foot, the centre of Antibes is about 2,5km away.
Lycée Leonardo da Vinci: You stay in rooms with 3 beds with shared toilet and shower facilities. The residence features a big swimming pool, various sports fields (volleyball, handball, basketball), a cafeteria, a TV-room and public telephones. The Lycée is located about 7 km from the city centre and the beaches and there is a free bus shuttle several times a day.

Home stay: You may also stay in single or twin-bedrooms with one of our friendly home stay hosts, most of whom have been welcoming students for many years. The hosts live in Antibes or Juan-les-Pins and it may be necessary to use public transportation, which is not included. You’ll get full-board accommodation with breakfast and dinner in your family and lunch in the school’s refectory.

Activity Programme

Sailing included in the price

A supervised activity programme with e.g. barbecue, sports (tournaments, themed activities, volleyball, an afternoon sailing…), beach activities and theme nights are included in the price.
Besides this, you will get two half-day excursions and one full-day excursion per fortnight. Possible trip destinations are the Iles de Lerins, Cannes, Nice or Monaco.

Supervision and Welfare

Our friendly and helpful Team with French staff members will run a fully supervised activity programme and guarantee supervision. Your safety and welfare is our top priority: there is one supervisor responsible for 15 students. The members of our team have been carefully selected for their responsible and caring attitude and for being fun-loving and outgoing. They are the people you can turn to at any time for assistance.

Airport Transfers

Airport transfers from/to Nice airport or Antibes train station are included in the price. On the day of arrival our Meet & Greet Service will be waiting for you and will take you directly to your course centre. On the day of departure, you will leave your accommodation as required in order to make sure you arrive at the airport in time to check in.
