Join our summer French courses in a surfer’s paradise: Biarritz
Biarritz, Anglet and Bayonne make up the glamorous Cote Basque, ideally situated in South West France. Besides Paris and the French Riviera, Biarritz is one of the three most attractive holiday destinations in France and the area offers a wide choice of daytime holiday activities. Bayonne is a medieval town with great shopping facilities and a beautiful riverside-setting, while Biarritz is a vibrant cosmopolitan town with magnificent beaches, golf courses and numerous sporting facilities. The wonderful beaches are a surfer‘s paradise, and of course, you can also enrol for a surfing course at our experienced surf school.
You can either stay in our residence, a natural meeting place for surfers and students from all over the world, or with one of our carefully chosen host-families. French summer courses take place in our local school, just a short bus-ride from the town centre and the beach. After school, you can gather together with friends and participate in a variety of activities. Give table tennis a go or spend the afternoon on the beach relaxing or playing volleyball.
The language school in Biarritz
French summer courses for students
All lessons take place in our local school in the Maison des Associations, situated between beach and residence.
Our language courses are attended by students from all over the world and have been designed specifically for young people, who are visiting a foreign country for a short period. Maximum class size is 15. All teachers are native speakers and qualified in teaching French as a foreign language. Teaching material is provided, and has been carefully compiled and selected for originality, content and relevance to young people, so your French will quickly improve.
You’ll take a placement test upon arrival, which determines your course level. The following levels are catered for: elementary (A1), lower intermediate (A2), intermediate (B1), upper intermediate (B2), advanced (C1). At the end of the course, you’ll receive a certificate indicating your language level according to the Common European Framework of Reference Levels.
Please note that the lessons don't take place on these bank holidays and won't be replaced later: 14.07., 15.08.2013.
French Language courses
General French Course: 15 lessons (x 45 mins) per week
Lessons normally take place from Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 11:45. Each of the three morning lessons focuses on a specific area of language learning: grammar and language work, reading and listening, or communicative activities and speaking practice. Our aim is to provide you with the vocabulary and grammar required for effective communication and particular attention is paid to improving speaking and listening skills.
Intensive French Course: 20 lessons (x 45 mins) per week
The Intensive Course consists of the General French Course plus an additional lesson per day (11.45 -12.30) in which key areas of language learning are practised in more depth.

Accommodation and Meal Plan
Residence: Live and socialise with your fellow students from many different countries in our residence!
You will stay in multi-bedded en-suite rooms (3-4 beds) in the Youth Guesthouse in Biarritz, situated just a 35-minutes-walk (20 minutes by bus) from the town centre and the beach at Biarritz. You will reach our local school after a 15-minute-bus-ride and a 5-minute-walk.
Of course, a local bus pass is provided for the duration of your stay.
Public launderettes with coin-operated washing and drying machines as well as public phone and internet are available in the residence. A personal safe for your valuables is at your disposal in the Youth Guesthouse.
You’ll get full-board accommodation that includes breakfast, warm lunch and dinner. All meals are taken Youth Guesthouse or in a nearby restaurant.
Please note that this accommodation is available only from 23rd June onwards.
Home stay: You may also stay in twin or triple-bedrooms with one of our friendly home stay hosts, most of whom have been welcoming students for many years. Our hosts live in Biarritz, Anglet and Bayonne - some are situated close to the school while others are a bus-ride away (max. 60 mins, a local bus pass is provided for the duration of your stay). You will get full-board accommodation with breakfast, packed lunches and dinner.
Activity Programme
We offer an exciting and supervised activity programme in the afternoons & evenings, 7 days a week. In the afternoon, there are several activities on offer: Welcome Meeting, Town Walk & Town Quiz, Beach Activities (Frisbee, Beach volleyball), Workshops (Arts & Crafts, Dance, Aerobics, Health & Beauty),
In the evening we always offer at least one activity: Welcome Night, Pelote Basque, Speed Dating, Quiz Night, Theme Nights, Pic nic, Karaoke or Biarritz by night.
Besides this, you will get two half-day excursions and one full-day excursion per fortnight. Possible trip destinations are San Sebastian, Bordeaux, Pau, St. Jean de Luz, and Bayonne.
All these activities are included in the price. Additional activities may be offered in the centre as an option at an extra cost.
Special: Surf Course
Biarritz is the surf capital of France. If you feel like getting in touch with your inner surfer, be sure to join the surf course at our partner school in Anglet.
The surf course includes a max. of five lessons per week (1.5 hours each), which takes place in the afternoons.
Equipment will be provided. Surf lesson times may vary depending on the weather, tide, and the size of the waves. Please bear in mind that booking this special may prevent you from joining other activities or a scheduled excursion. This special is not included in the activity programme but can be chosen at the time of booking as an upgrade.
Special: Camino de Santiago
Join in for a spectacular hike and walk in the footsteps of St James. After a transfer of approx. 1hrs (by bus or public transfer) you will take the "Route de Napoléon“ from Saint Jean Pied-de-Port, a French town situated on the banks of the River Nive at the foot of the Pyrenees Mountains along the pilgrim walk to the Abbey at Ronces valles in Spain. Along this part of the route that pilgrims have used for several centuries you will see some spectacular views and great historical memorials. You will stay overnight at one of the several pilgrim hostels (in multibedded rooms) along the way and arrive at the Abbey at Ronces valles approximately at 16h00. After a guided town walk you will be taken back to Biarritz.
Please note that this excursion is not included in the package but can be chosen at the time of booking as an upgrade!
Supervision and Welfare
Our friendly and helpful International Team with staff members from England, Germany, France, Spain or other countries will run a fully supervised activity programme and guarantee supervision.
Your safety and welfare is our top priority: there is one supervisor responsible for 15 students.
The members of our team have been carefully selected for their responsible and caring attitude and for being fun-loving and outgoing. They are the people you can turn to at any time for assistance.
Airport Transfers
Airport transfers from/to Biarritz (airport or train station) are included in the price.
Other arrival and departure transfers can be provided as an additional service from/to Bilbao, Pau, Bordeaux and San Sebastian. On the day of arrival our Meet & Greet Service will be waiting for you and will take you directly to your course centre. On the day of departure, you will leave Biarritz as required in order to make sure you arrive at the airport or train station in time to check in. Please don’t hesitate to book our Unaccompanied-Minors-Service, if you're looking for a supervised check-in.
