French language summer courses in the Auvergne
French and sport classes are awaiting you in our new location on the French Auvergne. Located 1000 meters above the Vivarais, Le Chambon sur Lignon is about an hour away from St. Etienne and Valence. Students from various countries are able to meet with French students of the same age in the midst of this impressive landscaping. Mornings are filled with outdoor activities such as horseback riding, golf, skating, or dancing. In the afternoon, you will participate in French classes, while the French students improve their English. A bit of time spent in your French class, with the opportunity to apply what you have learned right away. With so many activities and classes you will be able to dive right in to the French language.
The Campus
The Collège Cévenol’s campus is used by French students year-round. The campus is located not far from Le Chambon sur Lignon in the middle of a beautiful woods and meadow. There are a variety of athletic options for you to explore during your free time. Check out the football field, basketball court, and four tennis courts located on campus. Table tennis is available to you as well as a large sports hall to tame your athletic energy. You will also find additional public phones directly on campus.
The language school in Chambon/Lignon
Our French language summer courses are attended by students from all over the world and have been designed specifically for young people, who are visiting a foreign country for a short period. Maximum class size is 12. All teachers are qualified in teaching French as a foreign language. Teaching material is provided.
You’ll take a placement test upon arrival, which determines your course level. The following levels are catered for: advanced beginners (A1), lower intermediate (A2), intermediate (B1), upper intermediate (B2).
At the end of the course, you’ll receive a certificate indicating your language level according to the Common European Framework of Reference Levels.
Please Note: 14.07.2010 is a French holiday; no language lessons will take place!
French Language course
French Conversation Course: 10 lessons (x 45 mins) per week
The conversation course focuses on expanding vocabulary and deepening your understanding of French grammar. Practical exercises that relate directly to your stay in the guest country are used in class. The goal of the course is to advance your communicative competence. Lessons takes place in the afternoons.

Accommodation and Meal Plan
Students on campus
Résidence: socialise with your fellow students from France and other countries on campus! You live in a typical French boarding school and you will stay in multi-bedded rooms (3-4 beds). All the students use shared toilet and shower facilities.
You’ll get full-board accommodation that includes a French breakfast, lunch and dinner. All meals are taken in the self-service school refectory.
Activity Programme
A supervised activity programme with sports (volleyball, soccer, swimming…), Diskos, or Soirées Jeux is included in the price. Additionally, you will participate in a Sport Option held in the mornings for about 2 hours with specially trained sport teachers. You may choose from:
Mountain-Biking
Bike your way through the forests in Auvergne, every morning you will explore new paths and panoramic views. There is also an evening night included in the program.
Skateboarding
In the local Skate Park you will be able to train and try new things at your own level of expertise.
Horseback Riding
In the riding center you may learn to ride a horse for the first time, or perfect your riding skills. Near the different riding and jumping courses, you may also ride at your leisure.
Golf
In the Golf Club you may take your first golf lesson, or work on your technical skills.
Dance
Our dancing teacher Valérie Vincent will teach you to the moves of modern Jazz. Every morning you will be able to refine your skills and find that musical rhythm.
Supervision and Welfare
Our friendly and helpful Team with French staff members will run a fully supervised activity programme and guarantee supervision.
The members of our team have been carefully selected for their responsible and caring attitude and for being fun-loving and outgoing. They are the people you can turn to at any time for assistance.
Airport Transfers
Airport transfers are not included in the price, but regular transfers can be provided as an additional service from/to Lyon airport or train station and Paris, Gare de Lyon.
