English summer school: English courses in the traditional town of Chichester
Chichester is a small city in the south of England, approximately half-way between Portsmouth and Brighton and just a 2 hour drive from London. The impressive city centre stands on the foundations of an ancient Roman-British city and quite a lot of its medieval city walls are still in place. The streets have kept their cross-shaped layout, radiating outwards from the famous medieval market cross leading to the North, South, East and West shopping streets with their small shops and cafés. Your English summer school is based on the Bishop Otter Campus of the University of Chichester, just a 10-minute walk from the historic city centre. Spend your summer holidays in an international atmosphere on this very attractive campus – join the numerous activities organized by our team, or use the great sports facilities. Chichester also benefits from being close to the great beaches of Bognor Regis and West Wittering and public transport takes you there in about 15 minutes.

The campus
Our English summer school is located on an attractive university campus, in the middle of vast parks and gardens. The IP Ocean Lounge, where you will be able to meet friends from all over the world and where most of our activities take place, is situated at the heart of the campus.
Besides this, the campus offers extensive sports fields for soccer, volleyball, netball and other games.
Public launderettes with coin-operated washing and drying machines as well as public phone booths are situated on the campus. A safe is not available in the centre, but you will get a key to lock your room.

You'll learn in small groups of 15 students!
All lessons take place in the Victorian Oaklands Park House on campus.
Our language courses are attended by students from all over the world and have been designed specifically for young people, who are visiting a foreign country for a short period. Maximum class size is 15. All teachers are native speakers and qualified in teaching English as a foreign language. Teaching material is provided, and has been carefully compiled and selected for originality, content and relevance to young people, so your English will quickly improve.
You’ll take a placement test upon arrival, which determines your course level. The following levels are catered for: lower intermediate (A2), intermediate (B1), upper intermediate (B2), advanced (C1). At the end of the course, you’ll receive a certificate indicating your language level according to the Common European Framework of Reference Levels.
English Language courses
General English Course: 15 lessons (x 45 mins) per week
Lessons normally take place from Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 11:45. Each of the three morning lessons focuses on a specific area of language learning: grammar and language work, reading and listening, or communicative activities and speaking practice. Our aim is to provide you with the vocabulary and grammar required for effective communication and particular attention is paid to improving speaking and listening skills.
Intensive English Course: 20 lessons (x 45 mins) per week
The Intensive Course consists of the General English Course plus an additional lesson per day (11.45 -12.30) in which key areas of language learning are practised in more depth. If you have registered to enter the Trinity Oral Examination a specific preparation is offered in the 4th lesson.
Trinity Oral Examination
In the English speaking world there are a number of tests which measure language abilities. The Trinity Exam programme, conducted by Trinity College London since the 1880s, is a popular option for students on short term courses. Trinity Graded Examinations in Spoken English for speakers of other languages provide an internationally recognised scheme of assessment through which students can measure their language development for educational or vocational purposes. The awarded grades range from 1 (absolute beginner) to 12 (very advanced). You can take the Trinity Oral Examination in Chichester (to be booked in advance) but you have to book the Intensive Course in order to get prepared.
Exams take place on the 15th July, 29th July, and 12th August 2011.
