French language summer course in the middle of a vineyard: La Crau
Learn French in a unique environment – our residence is located in the middle of a vineyard, near the small city of La Crau. La Crau connects two of the most attractive holiday regions in France – the French Riviera and Provence. The Mediterranean Sea as well as Toulon and Hyères can be reached by bus in 30-45 minutes. Several times a day a free bus shuttle takes the students to the sea or to one of the cities.
The special nature and surroundings of La Crau make it a perfect a destination for a summer French course and our residence provides you with ideal conditions to learn French and enjoy your summer holiday as part of an international group!
The Campus
Your summer French courses take place in the Résidence La Navarre. The residence benefits from an exceptional location, embedded among hills, meadows and vineyards. Before 1789, the medieval building belonged to the Navarre and is now used as a private boarding school. The common room, the theatre, the classrooms, the residence and the refectory are situated around a sunny courtyard where you can mix with friends during the break and after lessons. You will find good sport facilities on campus - a playing field and a gymnasium for soccer, basketball, hand ball, and volleyball as well as an outdoor swimming pool which can be used under supervision at appointed times.
La Navarre offers public telephones, internet anda laundry service (free for 9-14 year old students). For 9-11 year old students their valuables can be deposited in the office. Free shuttle service to town centre, sailing centre and beaches (students must be 14 years old to leave the campus unsupervised).
The language school in La Crau
What's going on?
Our summer French courses are attended by students from all over the world and have been designed specifically for young people, who are visiting a foreign country for a short period. Maximum class size is 15. All teachers are qualified in teaching French as a foreign language. Teaching material is provided.
You’ll take a placement test upon arrival, which determines your course level. The following levels are catered for: advanced beginners (A1), lower intermediate (A2), intermediate (B1), upper intermediate (B2).
At the end of the course, you’ll receive a certificate indicating your language level according to the Common European Framework of Reference Levels.
Please note that the lessons don't take place on this bank holidays and aren't catched up later: 15.08.2013. You should also know that there are no lessons on the first day of school as there will be a guided walk and the placement test.
French Language course
Intensive French Course: 20 lessons (x 45 mins) per week
Lessons take place from Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 12:30 for the 14-17 year olds and for the 9-13 year olds from 13:45 to 17:15. The lessons focus on the main areas of language learning: grammar and language work, reading and listening, communicative activities and speaking practice. Our aim is to provide you with the vocabulary and grammar required for effective communication and particular attention is paid to improving speaking and listening skills.

Accommodation and Meal Plan
Résidence La Navarre: Live and socialise with your fellow students from many different countries on campus! You'll stay in multi-bedded rooms (3-4 beds) with shared toilet and shower facilities.
You’ll get full-board accommodation that includes a French breakfast, lunch and dinner. All meals are taken in the self-service school refectory.
Activity Programme
Sport activities on campus.
A supervised activity programme with sports (volleyball, soccer, swimming…), beach activities, barbecue and theme nights is included in the price.
Also included is an "easy sailing" course with 2 x 1,5 hours per week. Trained sailing instructors show you how to handle the HobieCat16 at our partner school.
Besides this, you will get two half-day excursions and one full-day excursion per fortnight.
Possible trip destinations are Bandol, Le Castellet, Le Lavandou, the Iles de Porquerolles, Marseille or a water fun-park.
All these activities are included in the price. Additional activities may be offered in the centre as an option at an extra cost.
Special: Sailing lessons
You can get 5 sailing lessons (90 mins each). Our professional instructors will show you how to sail with the HobieCat16 or the Tyka.
This special is not included in the programme but can be chosen at the time of booking as a supplement. Minimum age: 14 years!
Supervision and Welfare
Our friendly and helpful Team with French staff members will run a fully supervised activity programme and guarantee supervision.
Your safety and welfare is our top priority: there is one supervisor responsible for 12 students.
The members of our team have been carefully selected for their responsible and caring attitude and for being fun-loving and outgoing. They are the people you can turn to at any time for assistance.
Please note that students under the age of 14 are not allowed to go out without supervision.
Airport Transfers
Airport transfers from/to Nice airport are included in the price on the weekend. On the day of arrival our Meet & Greet Service will be waiting for you and will take you directly to your course centre. On the day of departure, you will leave La Crau as required in order to make sure you arrive at the airport in time to check in. It might be possible that we combine students going on different flights. In that case, you might spend some time on a supervised campus in Antibes before you go to La Crau or the airport.
From Monday to Friday the cost is 250 Euros per way.
