The peaceful seaside resort of Teignmouth is ideal for your first stay abroad. Teignmouth is situated in one of Britain’s most beautiful and sunniest regions: on the Devon coast, just a short bus ride away from Torquay and the English Riviera. The charming harbour, winding streets and an award winning sandy beach complement a variety of shops and cafés. Our language summer school, where you will meet fellow students from all over Europe, is situated on a lush hilltop in a picturesque area overlooking the sea and the small streets of Teignmouth centre. Your parents don’t have to worry about your (first) stay in England: Trinity’s closed campus guarantees a comfortable and secure environment for our young learners. All the English lessons as well as most of the exciting activity programme take place directly on campus.
The campus
Trinity School, our language summer school in Teignmouth, is a small private boarding school, situated just a 15-minute-walk from the town centre and the beach.
The campus residences are divided into junior and senior schools with the teaching centre located in the Victorian main building which is connected to the senior school via a bridge.
The focal point for all events and the central meeting point is our IP Ocean Lounge where you can join our workshops, have a chat with your new friends or just relax. The IP Fruit 'n' Fit - Corner offers you all day long water, tea and fruit. Why not spend the midday break on one of the beautiful campus lawns?
Those who prefer a more active lifestyle can experience real ‘team spirit’ by playing football or volleyball with new friends on the excellent campus pitches and fields, or by taking a relaxing swim in the heated outdoor swimming pool (at specific times only).
You will find a washing-machine and internet on campus whilst public phones are situated in town. Secure storage for valuables will be available in the IP Office.
The language summer school in Teignmouth
Our partner school, Europa School of English, is member of English UK, the world's leading language teaching association. All lessons take place in the spacious classrooms of Trinity School.
Our language courses are attended by students from all over the world and have been designed specifically for young people, who are visiting a foreign country for a short period. Maximum class size is 15. All teachers are native speakers and qualified in teaching English as a foreign language. Teaching material is provided, and has been carefully compiled and selected for originality, content and relevance to young people, so your English will quickly improve.
You’ll take a placement test upon arrival, which determines your course level. The following levels are catered for: elementary (A1), lower intermediate (A2), intermediate (B1), upper intermediate (B2). At the end of the course, you’ll receive a certificate indicating your language level according to the Common European Framework of Reference Levels.
English Language courses
Afternoon activities on the beach.
General English Course: 15 lessons (x 45 mins) per week
Lessons normally take place from Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 11:45. Each of the three morning lessons focuses on a specific area of language learning: grammar and language work, reading and listening, or communicative activities and speaking practice. Our aim is to provide you with the vocabulary and grammar required for effective communication and particular attention is paid to improving speaking and listening skills.
Intensive English Course: 20 lessons (x 45 mins) per week
The Intensive Course consists of the General English Course plus an additional lesson per day (11.45 -12.30) in which key areas of language learning are practised in more depth. If you have registered to enter the Trinity Oral Examination a specific preparation is offered in the 4th lesson.
Trinity Oral Examination
In the English speaking world there are a number of tests which measure language abilities. The Trinity Exam programme, conducted by Trinity College London since the 1880s, is a popular option for students on short term courses. Trinity Graded Examinations in Spoken English for speakers of other languages provide an internationally recognised scheme of assessment through which students can measure their language development for educational or vocational purposes. The awarded grades range from 1 (absolute beginner) to 12 (very advanced). You can take the Trinity Oral Examination in Teignmouth (to be booked in advance) but you have to book the Intensive Course in order to get prepared.
Exams take place on the 19th July, 26th July, and 9th August 2013.

Accommodation and Meal Plan
Residence: Live and socialise with your fellow students from many different countries on campus! In the Victorian main building of Trinity School there are basic single, twin and triple bedrooms with shared toilet and shower facilities. In the so called Senior School - a modern built all-purpose centre – Trinity School offers twin and multi-bedded rooms (with 3-4 beds) with toilet and shower facilities always shared between two rooms. You’ll get full-board accommodation that includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. All meals are taken in the self-service school refectory.
Home stay: You may also stay in twin or triple rooms with one of our friendly home stay hosts, most of whom have been welcoming students for many years. Some live close to the campus while others are a short walk or a bus-ride (max. 45 minutes, costs for public transport not included) away. You’ll get full-board accommodation with breakfast, packed lunches and dinner.
Please note that home stay accommodation is not available for students younger than 13
Activity Programme
After lessons in Trinity School.
We offer an exciting and supervised activity programme in the afternoons & evenings, 7 days a week. In the afternoon you can choose between several activities on offer: welcome meeting, town walk, town quiz, campus sports (basketball, soccer, volleyball, softball etc), swimming, beach activities (frisbee, beach volleyball and other games), workshops (dancing, arts & crafts, health & beauty, etc), scavenger hunts. In the evening we always offer at least one activity: welcome party, quiz night, film night, open stage, theme nights, treasure hunts, International Party.
Besides this, you will get two half-day excursions and one full-day excursion per fortnight.
Possible trip destinations are Exeter, Dartmoor, Torquay, Totnes, Bath or Cornwall.
All these activities are included in the price. Additional activities may be offered in the centre as an option at an extra cost.
Special: Mini Olympics
One week filled with water sports and an Olympic race at the end. From Monday till Thursday afternoon (14.00-17.00) you will get Olympic style squad training in boat sailing, windsurfing, kayaking or canoeing, and dinghy sailing taught by professional instructors.
Friday afternoon is race day - show us what you’ve learned.
Equipment will be provided. Programme may change to accommodate weather, tide, and availability. Please be aware that it might not be possible to join the activity programme or scheduled excursion. This special is not included in the programme but can be chosen as an upgrade at the time of booking.
Tennis course
You will get five afternoons (3 hours each) of professional tennis training per week. Our international tennis coaches will show you how to play tennis. Some tournaments will allow you to practise your newly developed skills. This special is not included in the programme but can be chosen at the time of booking as an upgrade. Please note that you won't be able to go on trips if you book this special. Equipement will not be provided.
The course is only available from 08.07.-19.07.2013.
Supervision and Welfare
Our friendly and helpful International Team with staff members from England, Germany, France, Spain, Russia or other countries will run a fully supervised activity programme and guarantee supervision. The participation in the programme is optional for those older than 13.
Your safety and welfare is our top priority: there is one supervisor responsible for 10 students between 10 and 12 years or one supervisor for 15 students between 13 and 15 years.
The members of our team have been carefully selected for their responsible and caring attitude and for being fun-loving and outgoing. They are the people you can turn to at any time for assistance.
Please note that students ages 10-12 years are not allowed to leave the campus without supervision.
Transfers
Transfers are not included in the price, but transfers can be provided as an additional service from/to London, Bristol, and Exeter. On the day of arrival our Meet & Greet Service will be waiting for you at the exit area of customs and will take you directly to your course centre. On the day of departure, you will leave Teignmouth as required in order to make sure you arrive at the airport in time to check in. Please don’t hesitate to book our Unaccompanied-Minors-Service, if you're looking for a supervised check-in. If you book an Unaccompanied- Minors-Service with your airline, please be sure to request our Unaccompanied-Minors-Service as well.
We also offer a Low-Budget transfer from/to London Heathrow. Fly into Heathrow airport between 10.00 and 17.00 and go to our meeting point in Terminal 5. There will be a member of staff to welcome you. Our coach shuttle will depart from Heathrow at approximately 18.00. On the day of departure you will be dropped-off at Heathrow about 12.00 - for flight departure after 14.00.
