Placement test procedure

At IP International Projects, we believe effective learning starts with the right placement. By tailoring classes to each student’s abilities, we create a supportive environment where learners feel confident, challenged, and ready to progress.

We want every student to begin their course at the right level. Our placement process helps us understand each learner’s language ability in English, French, or German, so they can make the most of their summer with us from day one.

Online placement test
Before arrival, students are asked to complete an online placement test. This test assesses current language skills and helps us identify strengths as well as areas for improvement. It is flexible and easy to complete at a convenient time, ensuring students are placed in a class that suits their level. If a student is unable to complete the test in advance, they will join a mixed-level group on their first day and take the placement test during their initial lesson.

Speaking assessment in class
Once lessons begin, teachers observe students during their first day in class, with a particular focus on speaking skills. This allows us to see how students communicate in real classroom situations and provides valuable insight beyond written test results.

Accurate and individual class placement
The results of the online placement test are combined with the classroom speaking assessment to create a well-rounded picture of each student’s language ability. Based on this complete evaluation, students are placed in the most appropriate language level for their needs.

Learning at the right level
Class placement is based on language level only — not age, nationality, educational background, or personal preference. Wherever possible, we create international classes to encourage cultural exchange and a truly global learning experience.
