Each trip consists of a guided tour of the area with some interesting background information and stops at the nicest photo locations. Our supervisors will not only tell you more about the city but also where the coolest shops and cafés are, because after the guided tour you will have some free time with your friends for shopping and discovering on your own! The amount of free time allowed depends on the students’ age and on the traffic during the trip.
The following trips are included and done while booked for 2 weeks:
- Half day trip 1 to London: “The Great Fire of London”: London Bridge, Tower Bridge, Borough Market and the Monument to the Great Fire
- Half day trip 2 to London: London’s Trendy and Cultural area with Shoreditch, Brick Lane and Spitalfields Market. In Shoreditch the focus will be on the street art. Brick Lane is popular for its vintage shops, very Londoner place to shop and finally they can wander through the Spitalfields market during their free time. Also included a dinner voucher to have something to eat in London.
- Full day trip to Brighton: Students will enjoy a guided tour of Brighton highlights, including the Palace Pier, Royal Pavilion, and Theatre Royal. In their free time, they can shop in big stores or “The Lanes,” relax on the pier or beach, visit the historic aquarium, and see the world’s oldest electric railway, the Volks Railway.
- Full day trip to Cambridge including a punting on river tour.
- Full day trip 1 to London: Notting Hill, Portobello Road Market, Churchill Arms, Kensington Palace and then Holland Park. The free time would allow them to either go to the Design Museum (5min walk), to the Natural History Museum (30min walk), to Westfields, a huge shopping centre (20min walk) or London Shopping Trip on Oxford Street. Also includes a dinner voucher to have something to eat in London. (Is decided on site and depends on number of students).

Our Supervision Concept
13 to 17 year olds
Students aged 13–17 take part in a compulsory activity programme offering a wide variety of engaging options each day.
When staying in Southend, students will also enjoy a “Town Walk with Free Time.” For this activity, supervisors or group leaders accompany the students to and from town, and students then have some supervised free time while there.
We follow the official supervision ratios of:
1:15 for students aged 13–15
1:20 for students aged 16–17
Within the campus, students are expected to walk independently (a short 3-minute walk) from their accommodation to the canteen for meals and to their classrooms. To ensure safety and participation, students are not permitted to stay in their accommodation during the day.
Time to Talk
You will be in separate TTT (Time to Talk) groups of up to 25 children per group. In the lunchtime TTT you tell your supervisor what you want to do in the afternoon and the supervisor will put you in the respective sign-up list which will be checked when the programme starts. The same happens at the dinner time TTT for the evening event.
